Normal, dry or oily: how to determine your skin type ?

It is a question that many people, both men and women, ask themselves at least once in their lives. Surprisingly, a majority of them do not know their skin type. This lack of knowledge can lead to the use of the wrong products and thus damage the skin. Miraclar takes stock to help you find yours!

Skin type: three possibilities

Normal skin

This type of skin is not very common: only a tiny part of the world has normal skin. And yet, everyone would dream of having one since it symbolizes a face without imperfections, with a soft touch, tight pores and no shine. Comfortable because properly moisturized and nourished, it does not require too much care.

Dry skin

A feeling of tightness and a lack of elasticity are signs of dry skin. To provide sufficient comfort and nutrition, it is therefore important to use skin care products with a very rich texture. This type of skin reacts more easily and quickly to skin ageing as it does not control the skin's moisture regulation properly. On the other hand, the absence of sebum prevents imperfections from appearing and people with this type of skin have a nice fine, tight grain.

Combinaison to oily skin

Combination skin, which concerns the majority of individuals, is characterized by an overproduction of sebum in the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin). On the rest of the face, the skin type may be normal or dry. Thus, moisturizing with light, fluid care will prevent the appearance of pimples or dry areas. The main advantage of this skin type is certainly the fact that it resists the first signs of skin aging much better than dry skin.

However, if the entire face is shiny and has dilated pores or even imperfections, it means that the skin is oily. This type of skin often suffers from the application of too strong and unsuitable products (creams, cleansers, scrubs...), which can cause inconveniences such as blackheads and blackheads.

Skin condition: what is it?

A skin condition differs from skin type in that it only occurs at certain times of the year or in a person's life. It is not permanent and can be added to the skin type. For example, oily skin can become uncomfortable, sensitive or have dry areas, especially in winter when it is not properly moisturized and nourished. This spotty condition makes the skin dehydrated, but it does not mean that oily skin has turned into dry skin. The skin type remains permanent: it defines the skin for life.

There are three skin types with different characteristics. These can sometimes be altered by a skin condition, which upsets everything. In order to take good care of your face with adapted products, it is therefore essential to know your skin type. Do not hesitate to make diagnoses. In the meantime, using skin care products for all skin types is equally effective.
